Tell us a bit about how long have you been playing video games? Why do you like playing them? How often do you play?
I have played video games pretty casually throughout my life. When I was younger I played a lot N64 and then Civilization 2-3 on the PC. When I went to college I started playing more often, pretty much anything I could put my hands on really. I really enjoy the strategy involved in playing video game. It takes dedication and practice before you see good results and it keeps you stimulated while you learn. I enjoy grinding for results and the feeling of accomplishment after getting to your goal. I play video games most games although not for super long periods of time as I am in school full time and working full time. Probably about an hour and half most days sometimes a get a bit more in.
When have you started to play Overwatch? Why do you like it?
I started playing overwatch about 5 months ago. (I know, late to the party!) I love the team aspect of playing overwatch. For the most part I feel like it requires more than just mechanical skill which is important to me because I don’t have the time to play enough to get that level of mechanical skill. If you play smart and really learn your hero kit, you can get pretty far.
Why have you decided to try out Omnicoach? What was your first impression about Omnicoach before uploading any videos?
I decided to try out Omnicoach for a couple of different reasons. First I am a bit of a tech enthusiast and so the Idea of AI going through and analyzing my game is pretty awesome. I am also a casual player (due to time not preference…) and wanted to see how I could more efficiently use my time to be effective in my practice and play time. When going over and reading through the Omnicoach site my first impression was “Is this real?” It almost seemed to good to be true, especially because it wasn’t very expensive. Most coaching I have looked into cost too much but this was inexpensive and at my level of play (Gold…queue the laughter haha) I felt this could offer plenty of helpful hints and tips. I can’t really attest to higher levels of game play personally.
After using Omnicoach and receiving your first analysis, did it give you insights, info you were looking for? Did you get closer to any of your goals by using Omnicoach?
Omnicoach gave me a ton of things to work on from my first video. I am still working on the things that it pointed out. I’ve started watching Jayne on YouTube and his coaching and having used Omnicoach it matches up with much of what he says. Omnicoach is nice though because instead of a generalized coaching instruction from people on the internet, it was specific to my game play. It helped me reach several goals that I had including to get more wins. I am definitely contributing more in my games instead of just existing.
What are the benefits of Omnicoach, what do you like the most?
What I like most about Omnicoach is how fast it is. When you sign up it is quick, when you need to upload a video they have a settings file you can download so you can quickly set up video recording even without any prior knowledge of how to do it. It doesn’t take very long to get it done and your results are in quickly!
What do you think are the disadvantages of Omnicoach?
The only downside that I have to Omnicoach is if I have questions about a certain critique there isn’t any discussion on the topic like you might get with a coach off fiver or something.
Do you have a main hero? Why do you like to play him/her the most?
My main hero is currently Soldier 76 but I can flex to Reinhardt and Lucio when needed. I like Soldier the most because it fits the role of a typical shooter which I am used to, but also his kit is fun. The mobility keeps it interesting and I love that I can act as a support on occasion if others need a quick healing. I feel like soldier can really make or break a fight on many occasion which makes it super fun.
(+1) When were you the most proud of yourself? Do you remember any particular moment, a sick play?
I was playing Soldier 76. Had been for quick some time. I hadn’t really found my niche with him yet and was still getting used to playing overwatch. I was playing competitive in bronze and we were stuck on Junkertown. We were attacking and were stuck at the second choke entering the town. We only had a few seconds to make it to the next point or lose. We regrouped and when in for the final push. I was able to stay alive while the rest of the team died. I got onto the high ground and was able to finish the rest of the enemy team of in a 1v3 to make the final push. This moment stands out cause lets be honest I felt like a God (yes, I know I am a bronze player and suck, but let me have the moment 😉 and second it taught me how important having the high ground in overwatch is. I have tried to continue to have that focus and have seen a huge upgrade in game play since.
(+2) Anything else you play besides Overwatch? Would you be interested in Omnicoach if we provided coaching for other games?
I enjoy playing just about any shooter but mostly Overwatch. I would be interested in Omnicoach for CSGO for sure though.
